This Is What It Feels Like To Be An American Indian

2021

Butte, MT

This piece is inspired by all the broken treaties and how Indigenous people are mistreated by the U.S. Government. Also, the mass incarceration of Indigenous People in the United States. It’s done on an antique prison ledger. A lot of original Plains Indian ledger art was created while Plains Indian warriors were incarcerated. It’s also a tribute to all the warriors who continue to stand up for our rights as Indigenous people. We are still here!
